Kumaresvara Mahadeva temple is situated in Guamal village of Bhadrak district. The temple facing west stands at one end of the village. The old Salandi river (now extinct) was passing by the side of the temple. Local people still believe that the temple was originally constructed on the mouth of this river. The remains of this river still bear the name of Buddha Salandi. Since stones are not available in the locality people assume that they were carried to this place through this river. The temple complex consists of a rekha deula and an open mukhamandapa. The main temple even though thoroughly plastered reveal the five fold projections on the outer walls. Of the three conventional parsvadevatas only Goddess Parvati is traced in the central niche of the northern wall of the main temple. The inner and outer walls of the jagamohana preserve figures of Vamana, Varaha, Yama and a few broken parts of Brahmanical divinities. Another miniature Sivalinga along with its Saktipitha is kept near the entrance door.
